Non-conventional Machining

TECT Power's non-conventional machining capabilities are another great example of ingenuity, know-how and a willingness to invest in winning technologies. We developed a proprietary sinker EDM machine that is the only one of its kind in the world. It gives us the ability to machine diffusers with great efficiency and accuracy. We also utilize many other specialized machining processes, such as electrochemical milling and abrasive flow milling, that are integral parts of many of our proprietary manufacturing processes. All of these areas of non-conventional machining expertise add to our robust manufacturing capabilities and further complement our integrated supply chain.

Our innovative techniques make TECT Power a worldwide leader in electrical discharge machining for the gas turbine engine industry. In addition to standard sinker and wire EDM capabilities for seal slots, tip cavities and other features, TECT Power has developed a unique sinker EDM process for solid diffuser manufacture. It utilizes equipment of our own design that employs eight independent heads working on a single workpiece. Combine our unique machines with our internal electrode design capability, and you have a best-in-class solution for solid diffusers with very low flow variation between passages.

Electrochemical Milling (ECM)

TECT Power's ECM capabilities can take off a uniform amount of material across the entire surface of a component. It's a particularly efficient process for removing material from very hard metals, such as nickel or exotic alloys. Our ECM technology can also be used to better help parts take and retain certain coatings.
